LEGENDARY 1980’S DRUG KINGPIN “FREEWAY RICKY ROSS” RELEASED FROM PRISON AND IN TALKS FOR MAJOR HOLLYWOOD BLOCKBUSTER

Hollywood, CA- After spending 20 years in prison and being released one short month ago, the man deemed responsible for moving 100 kilos of cocaine and over $8 million a week is in talks to produce a high-budget Hollywood blockbuster.

On his team is Emmy award winning actor and writer Nick Cassavetes, known throughout the industry for directing films such as The Notebook (2004), Alpha Dog (2006) and My Sister’s Keeper (2009). Cassavetes vision for the film seeks to expose the perilous pitfalls of the African American dream in contemporary society, he explains:

“Freeway Ricky Ross is a living American legend. A modern day street genius. To not know his story is to not understand our country - how it works, what it needs, and what it will do to get it… From his modest Los Angeles beginnings to his meteoric rise to the top of the drug world, Rick's ‘hustle’ was unparalleled in modern history… But when that government was done with him, it locked him up and left him as the fall guy responsible for the destruction of an entire community.

It has long been suspected that our government systematically oppresses its working class communities. Now, here's the proof”

Ross has built a friendship with the director in the past several months and is confident that Cassavetes shares his enthusiasm for the story:

“I love working with Nick, I think he’s great I love his films… He and I really vibed the first time we met and I think he truly understands the story. Not only has he been following my life for 25 years but he’s also someone I can kick it with!”

Ross in conjunction with Geno Taylor and Apocalypto films will actively help write and produce the autobiography, which will reveal truths about his gritty Los Angeles upbringing and early struggle to become financially stable and well-educated. Currently, Ross is travelling with his non-profit organization “The Freeway Foundation” and speaking to children across the nation about their future aspirations.
